While most other booths were folding up on the afternoon of June 11th, the demos at the Komori stand were still going strong and pulling in the remaining visitors to the exhibition.

The final demo of the System 38S web was packed to capacity even though it started after 2:00 p.m., and it built toward a huge climax thanks to 'open-to-all' participation.

The established Komori custom at drupa of 'cosplay' (dressing in costumes) performances was carried on at the other Komori demonstrations, winning riotous laughter and applause for the press operators, who were costumed in outfits featuring Japanese motifs.
Komori achieved results at this year's drupa that exceeded forecasts. This was truly a case of 'Kando: Beyond Expectations.

' We thank everyone who came to drupa 2008 and look forward to seeing you again at drupa 2012.

drupa 2008 further develops its global significance: Around 391,000 visitors from 138 countries
Around 391,000 visitors from 138 countries and 3,000 journalists from 84 countries travelled to Dusseldorf.
Accounting for 59 % of visitors the proportion of international visitors rose by 4 percentage points over the last event four years ago.
Commenting on the results for drupa 2008 Messe Dusseldorf CEO Werner Matthias Dornscheidt said: "This means drupa has further developed its global market significance and its international status. Given the difficult economic climate this is a remarkable success." He then added: "Happily, we were able to increase the proportion of overseas visitors here to 43 %." 7 % coming from South and Central America 15 % from Asia (2004: 13.6 %).
6 % the proportion of North American visitors remained constant.
"We had anticipated slight drops not only because of the high level of the Euro," explained trade fair boss. "But these figures also clearly show: drupa is a world beater and nothing moves in the print and media industry without it!"
The next drupa to be held in Dusseldorf from 3 to 16 May 2012.

8 live demo machines are separated to two groups and they are connected to K-Stations. One K-Station is connected to edigit MIS and another for Hiflex MIS. Each machine's production status is indicated on the monitor lively. One more MIS, Optimus is used for communication demo between it and K-Station. Easy to touch the system. In the case of just using PCs, it is very difficult to explain JDF communications between MIS and printing presses. But, in Komori stand, everybody can feel the data is linked with press running easily. For color management, PQC console with PDC-SII is displayed. Scanned data is processed by K-ColorProfiler II and other software, and then drive EPSON proofer to output good proof. We are using Eizo high quality monitors for all DoNet area PCs because we pay careful attention to color quality.

David McCormick, Print and Administration Director, signed for the new press and was offered personal congratulations by Komori President and CEO Yoshiharu Komori. "We had been running a two-color Heidelberg, but the setup forced us to outsource a lot of work. This new Spica will allow us to bring that work in-house and also take on new business. We expect that the machine will primarily be used for jobs that require four colors and a sealant, and that accounts for an enormous share of the work in our market. We also expect, however, to use the press for two-over-two work, and the fast mode changeover was a major advantage in our view," said McCormick.
"We visited a Spica site in Ireland and ran three of our own jobs on the press. That was all the convincing that we needed. But we were also very influenced by the reputation of Komori service," added McCormick. This long-established printing house was established by David McCormick's great-grandfather in 1890 and is now in its fourth generation of family management.

June 3, 2008The BG"Emission Tested"

bg1.jpg
On May 30th, officials from BG, the German environmental standards body, today presented Komori President Yoshiharu Komori at Komori stand with "Emissions Tested" certificates for the latest additions to the Komori lineup - the Lithrone SX29 and the SX40.

bg2.jpg
The BG "Emission Tested" Certificate is a seal of quality and is only awarded to presses whose emissions are clearly and permanently under the prescribed limits.
The emissions tested under rigorous conditions include cleaning solvents, dampening solution additives, inks, varnishes (mist),powder, noise, ozone, and UV radiation in UV printing.
Albrecht Gloeckle, BG Head of Technical Inspectorate, said: "For almost 20 years, Komori and BG have been working together to develop safe machinery that not only produces high printing quality but also meets the relevant European safety standards.
At Ipex 2006 we issued the first "Emission Tested" certificate to Komori. At Drupa 2008 we are very pleased to be issuing further certificates, and once again to a brand new press - a rare achievement.
These certificates recognize that Komori puts environmental and operator considerations at the very core of press design."
The BG officials also noted their view that Komori is the best press manufacturer in the industry in terms of designing and producing presses that limit emissions.
They also suggested that Komori web presses are so advanced that future cooperation between Komori and BG will undoubtedly lead to the establishment of standards for web offset presses that are similar in aim to those currently applied to sheetfed presses.

June 2, 2008Drupa Opens and Komori Is Off and Running!

Drupa 2008 has officially started and, to no one's surprise, the Komori stand is already one of the busiest sites of the entire exhibition.

Visitors flowed into the Komori booth from the opening bell, keen on seeing one or more of the eight Komori presses on show, including two entirely new presses-the revolutionary new flagship Lithrone SX40 and the Lithrone SX29 with Cold Foil Stamping.
The Komori System 38S, in particular, was standing-room-only from the first demo, as the printing industry gathered to see whether the astounding web press could break its own world record from four years ago.
